We started our journey in January when we visited Orchard Kitchens along with one or two other companies. We met Gideon and had an initial discussion about our ideas for changing our house and replacing the kitchen. We made an appointment for him and a building associate to come to the house one evening the following week.

We were able to bounce many ideas and possibilities around and found the visit very useful in rationalising both our thoughts and desires.

Gideon had taken measurements on his visit to our house and we visited his showroom at the end of January to see his initial design. We decided then that we were going to work with him, as he, at this early stage, had incorporated most of our particular needs into the layout. The design was both aesthetically pleasing and eminently practical: we were both very pleased with it from the outset.

The next stage was to instruct an architect to draw plans and select a builder to have the structural work undertaken. We chose a builder recommended by friends and the work started in mid April. Gideon liaised with the architect during the planning stage. Early in the building process he came to site and met Nigel & Phil the directors of Quoin Construction, the building company, to discuss the electrical, lighting and plumbing interfaces for his kitchen design. They were impressed at receiving a professionally produced set of drawings giving all details. (They remarked after the meeting this was the first time this had happened to them.) Gideon was pro active in each stage of the process which we found very reassuring.

We had a final meeting at Orchard Kitchens to make some small changes to the kitchen layout and then waited till a definite date could be arranged for the installation of the kitchen. Gideon was also very helpful at this stage with recommendations , from his extensive network of contacts, for floor covering and tiles and gave us names and companies that he had used successfully in the past. Again with his help we were able to make some superb choices.”The final piece in the journey was the kitchen installation which went like clockwork. The fitters were friendly and efficient with a good sense of humour and Gideon was on hand regularly to check progress.

The result is a house that works for us, with a beautiful kitchen, which we will enjoy every day. We have  been on a journey, with a great team, which had some unexpected twists but produced a result we couldn’t have imagined at the outset .”Thank you Gideon and team.
